If you want to play at Mama Tried, email us your stuff. If we like it, we’ll try to find a slot for you.

We don’t charge a cover because we are a neighborhood bar and want to be open to everyone. We pay 15% of the drawer while you play + 1 hour. Plus pass the hat. You can also say there’s a suggested donation. It’s helpful to send a Venmo QR since so many people don’t carry cash these days. Each performer gets 2 drink tickets. One ticket is good for a well/draft/house wine drink; two tickets get you food or a cocktail.

We book shows May-Oct, Weds & Thurs, 7-10 pm, and some Sats & Suns, 4-7. We are an outdoor venue, under an elevated highway. Hard out at 10 cuz it’s outside.

We have a Behringer XAir18 mixer, two mackie SRM450s, a Line 6 Spider IV 75 guitar amp, a Fender Blues Junior 15 guitar amp, a Fender Rumble bass amp 115 with a 500 watt head, an Ampeq BA-115 bass amp, 6 mics w stands, a two-tiered keyboard stand, two passive DIs, two Behringer Eurolive F1220Dx monitors, and drums. Pearl drum set includes 13” snare, 13” rack tom, 16” floor tom, 22” kick, hi hat, 3 cymbal stands and a throne. Drummers need to bring cymbals and a kick pedal. The booker is also the roadie and sound person.

Although we are next to a highway, we have had noise complaints from neighbors, and strive to manage volume at a considerate level. Technically that means volume levels should average below 90 dB at the back of the outdoor space. You can be plenty loud on stage. We hate it when the cops come (and they hate that they have to.) If musicians are not respectful of requests to turn down, they will be shut off.
