WINTER SONG: JR Bohannon and Dave Shuford, Zachary Cale, Jeff Tobias

WINTER SONG: music series curated by Zachary Cale

+JR Bohannon and Dave Shuford- This gift of an album (Reclined in the Haze) finds Dave Shuford (No Neck Blues Band, D. Charles Speer, Rhyton, et al) and JR Bohannon conjuring a sequence of duets for a variety of stringed instruments. The nine tracks, no matter their length (they run from two-and-a-half to eight-and-a-half minutes), function simultaneously as delicate miniatures and as explorations of colossal expanse. The playing throughout, even when the mood is languid, is sharp and focused, a blending of vibe and technique that at times recalls the fried synaptic tunnels traveled by Sandy Bull.

+Zachary Cale- has been a fixture of the underground music scene in NYC for over 20 years. Often cited as a songwriter’s songwriter, his eclectic musical influences have guided his own unique style of songcraft. Whether alone with an acoustic guitar in an intimate room or on a festival stage with a full band, the song itself has always been his magnetic north. An expressive singer and masterful guitarist Cale has honed his craft over years of touring and recording.

+Jeff Tobias- is a multi-instrumentalist and composer who has been an active part of the American music underground since 2003. He has contributed to over one hundred physically released recordings, performs on over a dozen different instruments, and has toured the United States and Europe extensively. His saxophone playing has been described as “authentically fearsome … just the sort of thing that fries microphones and never pays the rent.” (Bill Meyer, The Wire, March 2018). In 2022, he released his debut solo full-length, Recurring Dream, drawing praise from The New York Times. He is a member of Modern Nature and Thee Reps, formerly a member of Sunwatchers, and has also collaborated with artists including David First, Arthur Doyle, A. Savage (Parquet Courts), Kayo Dot, Ryley Walker, Brigid Dawson (The Oh Sees), Andrew Bernstein (Horse Lords), Matt Bachmann, Katie Eastburn, Dan Friel, Heather McIntosh, and many others.

WINTER SONG: Garrett Devoe, Zachary Cale, Miguel Mendez

WINTER SONG: music series curated by Zachary Cale

+Garrett Devoe- Centered around Garrett Devoe's (aka Pure Horsehair) acoustic guitar and voice, each song on Drop City Salvage expands to its resonant heights; with a psyche-symbiotic rhythm section and the wayward company of pedal steel, flute and hammond, the songs widen in sonic aperture with each go round. Somehow simultaneously laid back, street level and beguiling, Drop City Salvage builds an enchanting world from a prepper's dream-stash of spare parts. It is a mischievous cloud of good natured troubling, stealing away with your ears and mind to the tip-top of your turntable.

+Miguel Mendez- Los Angeles by way of Brooklyn multi instrumentalist, producer, songwriter Miguel Mendez came up in the early 00s sharing stages with TK Webb and Love as Laughter. After a long break from playing live Miguel has moved back to Brooklyn with a clutch of new songs to share.

+Darsombra- is a trans-apocalyptic galaxy rock duo from Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Known internationally for walking the line between glam-prog-psych-stoner metal and site-specific installation performance art, their hallucinogenic live audio-visual shows are often met with the following responses: “I didn’t know what to expect, but that was awesome”, “I’ve never seen anything like that before”, and “it was like tripping on acid, without the acid.”

+Lumberob- uses experimental word-play reminiscent of the early Dada works of Hugo Ball and Kurt Schwitters.
