The Silos, 178 Project, Bellene

  • Mama Tried 787 3rd Avenue Brooklyn NY 11232 United States (map)

+One Seven Eight Product- performs an unprepared music precisely in the moment for those in attendance. The project evolved out of the basement studio at 178 Ludlow Street LES where Liquid Liquid alum Sal P. held things together for 27 short years.  Their sound is sometimes described as bongo kraut rock with disco punk overtones it's focused yet playful unexpected & at times exhilarating truly music of for & by the times

+The Silos- began as a musical force in 1985 with the release of their first album “About Her Steps” along with a series of gigs in their hometown neighborhood, the East Village of New York City. They were part of New York’s post-punk ‘80s scene and played Indie Rock, Alt-Rock, Alt-Country, and Americana before any critics coined those terms. Heralded at their outset by Rolling Stone as "America's Best New Band," the resilient Silos mix punk, roots, rock, and sage art-damaged truth telling.

+Bellene- is the brainchild of Annabelle Martin, who was raised in South Dakota on communion wafers and Lizzie McGuire CDs. Backed by her band of hooligans, together they make softcore slacker rock with a hint of lime and aggression.
